Flo Lester Vinson
- Flo received her Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of
South Carolina in 1985. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Political Science from the College of Charleston in 1982.
- Flo is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in
South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit,
and the Supreme Court of the United States.
- Flo is the immediate Past President of the South Carolina Bar Association
(having previously served as Secretary and as a member of the Board of Governors for the South
Carolina Bar, and only the third female to serve as President of the
Association), a member of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Lawyer
Advertising, a member of the Political Action Committee of the South
Carolina Association for Justice, and the Board of Directors for the South
Carolina Bar Foundation.
- Flo is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice and
the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
- Flo is a former law clerk to the Honorable David W. Harwell, past
Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
- Flo formerly served as secretary of the Florence County Bar
Association, legal writing instructor at the U.S. C. School of Law and
at the Florence Darlington Technical College Paralegal Program, member
of the South Carolina Bar of Delegates, presented at the Florence County
Bar Association’s People’s Law School, participated in the Florence
County Bar Association’s Ask-a-Lawyer, served on the editorial board of
the South Carolina Lawyer Magazine, and was formerly a board member of
the Commission on Grievances and Discipline of the South Carolina Bar,
board member and area representative for the South Carolina Women
Lawyers Association, member of the South Carolina Bar Judicial
Qualifications Committee, and judge for local and national mock trial
competitions for middle school and high school teams.
- Flo’s community involvement includes being an active member of Saint
John’s Episcopal Church where she previously served as Clerk of the
Vestry, board member and past chairman of Easter Seals of the Pee Dee,
past board member of Easter Seals of South Carolina, former Pee Dee Area
Representative for the College of Charleston Alumni Association, board
member and former Distinguished President of the Florence Kiwanis Club,
and board member of Choices Alternative School for troubled youth.
- Flo and her husband, Jay, are life long residents of Florence, South
Carolina. Her husband is a Family Court Judge for the 12th Judicial
Circuit. Flo and her husband enjoy traveling, fine dining and creating
excuses not to exercise!
- Flo’s practice areas include personal injury, social security
disability, worker’s compensation and probate.
